The Fire That Could Have Been Prevented

Rohan stood outside his office building, disheveled and shaken up from within. There was soot on his face and terror in his eyes, as he saw flames engulfing his dream-office-building.

Just two hours earlier, he was on a conference call with a prestigious client. “You have nothing to worry about, Mr. Yang. My team will design the proposal completely around your needs. Also, we have a strict adherence-to-the-timeline policy. We deliver, no matter what, which is why we have been ranked as the best firm in the industry, for the third consequent year!”

Mr. Yang’s face showed a slight expression of being impressed.

While he had been in this business for years, Rohan still felt the thrill of accomplishment whenever he saw a satisfied client, and Mr. Yang was his biggest overseas account.

It had been five months, now, that he had expanded his twenty-year-old reputed company into a brand new office premise. This new space reflected his ideology perfectly. It was sufficiently spacious, had a premium location, was built as per the norms of required-governmental-regulations & even had a view to die for!

The rent did seem stark even for an established firm like his, but the quality of clientele that it brought owing to the name & fame of this particular area that was well worth it.

As Rohan now stood staring helplessly at the building that had caught fire, he couldn't help but wonder what he had missed out on while selecting this property.
